Hart Gables Responds to EHRC Consultation

EHRC Consultation Response

Hart Gables has submitted an official response to the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s (EHRC) consultation on their interim guidance and draft code of practice for single-sex spaces.

As an LGBT+ charity supporting individuals across Teesside and East Durham, we believe it’s vital that this guidance protects the rights, dignity, and safety of all people – especially transgender and non-binary individuals who are often most impacted by such decisions.

In our response, we’ve shared key concerns around the language, implementation, and possible consequences of the proposed guidance. We also acknowledge some positive steps within the draft, including efforts to clarify certain legal responsibilities for service providers.

We urge the EHRC to approach this issue with compassion, evidence, and a strong commitment to inclusion.
