Service Updates – 04/01/21

As of Monday 04/01/2021

Considering the North East’s move into Tier 4 and Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s most recent statement regarding the corona virus pandemic and it’s new, more transmissible strain, we have made some immediate changes to the services we currently offer.

Group sessions:

The Wednesday group that runs from the St Mary’s Centre will be temporarily put on hold and will instead be replaced with one to one session slots, and smaller group sessions made available to those at a higher risk of poor mental health. (This week’s, 6th Jan, group session will not go ahead)

This decision has not been made lightly, however due to the vast number of people wanting to attend the session we are unable to safely and responsibly facilitate session’s that do not impose a significant risk to those attending.

We understand that sometimes improving a person’s mental well-being outweighs the risk of spreading the virus, which is why we will replace the group session with available slots for one on one support, directly focused on improving emotional well-being, alongside smaller group sessions that will be offered to those who are considered high risk.

We are in the process of measuring risk and we will be in touch with people shortly to look at making a smaller group session available.

Similarly to our adult groups our youth groups will also be put on hold in the short term.

In replacement of those groups, Hart Gables will be facilitating a weekly virtual support group, more details are to follow.

Our Friday group that we run with Hartlepool Borough Council will be replaced by a support hotline for young people, facilitated by HBC and Hart Gables. Numbers will be provided very soon.

Please rest assured there will be plenty of support available for those who will struggle with the closure of support groups. You are not alone, please keep talking to us and whatever support you need we will figure something out, safely and responsibly. Thank you.
