We work with some of the North East’s most marginalised LGBT+ communities and more often than enough a large proportion of the people we work with feel excluded from various LGBT+ events throughout the UK.
Rainbow Rounders is a free event, established by Teesside University in support of the Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign. All communities are welcome to attend and are made to feel included and supported.
Yesterday, our service users took on the challenge of playing rounders against Cleveland Police, Teesside University, Middlesbrough FC, the North East Ambulance Service and Cleveland Fire Brigade UK.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Teesside University for organising such an inclusive event, we would also like to offer a big thank you to all the other teams who supported our service users throughout the day, it really was fantastic to see.
Most importantly, we want to say well done to our service users, each one of you pushed through personal challenges and didn’t even let language barriers stop you from giving it your all. You left sexuality and gender on the side-lines, but alongside others, you remained clear in your message that there is absolutely ‘no place for homophobia, transphobia and biphobia in sport’. We are very proud of you all and like always, we want you to know you are a credit to our organisation.
Well done to the winners MFC, a deserved win!!!
