Through a series of workshops our service users from many different backgrounds created artwork based on the rainbow flag and what it represents, in celebration of LGBT History Month.
Though the exhibition was the final result, the most important part of this project was the difference it made to the people who took part.
We had service users who struggle massively with anxiety attend an event with over 25 people around them. We had people who face hostility daily just because of who they are speak openly to a local radio station – some even stood up and shared their stories.
Most importantly, these inspiring people attended sessions with others, making friends, reducing social isolation and most significantly, improving their mental health and confidence along the way.
Thank you Middlesbrough Council for funding this project.
