any relationship can be abusive

Between 2016 and May 2019 26,656 domestic abuse incidents where recorded by Cleveland Police.
Unsurprisingly, only 1.5% of those incidents did victims have the same gender as suspects and there was no record of incidents involving people with a trans+ history.

Regardless of gender or sexual orientation, abuse is not acceptable in any relationship.
In a bid to highlight this message and challenge the narrative that abuse only happens in heterosexual relationships and that mainstream DA services are only for heterosexual people, the LGBT Tees Valley Forum have worked together to develop the poster campaign, ‘any relationship can be abusive’.

Please share far wide and help us let our local LGBT+ community know that support is out there, you are not alone

Big thanks to all those who took part in the planning and design of the poster, and special thanks to Cath Galloway at Cleveland Police for her input.
