Celebrating 10 Years Of Our Trans Project
Hart Gables is excited to announce the 10-year celebration of their project to raise awareness of transgender issues. Formerly known as the Trans Project, TransKIND supports trans and nonbinary people across the area, and is the longest-surviving and largest project of its kind in Teesside.
For over a decade, we have provided specialist support services for trans and non-binary people struggling with the obstacles involved in gender transition. Transition can be a difficult and distressing time, with many social, mental and physical challenges. Our staff members know this from first-hand experience, and how important it can be to talk to someone who’s been through the same thing. Our trans group, T-Time, held on Thursday evenings at Rift House Community Centre, Hartlepool, is a place for trans and non-binary people to meet, connect and feel less alone on their journey.
To celebrate the work and achievements of Hart Gables around gender identity the service has relaunched their project, offering even more variations of support for individuals, families, communities and local service providers.
Jack and Andy are qualified trans-identifying workers dedicated to providing professional, friendly, empathetic and above all, compassionate support to local trans people. They offer:
‘There are 7 billion people on this planet and they all express their gender identity differently. It’s no wonder people sometimes get it wrong. It’s our job to help them get it right.’ (Jack, Trans Development Worker, Hart Gables)
‘Trans and non-binary people are first and foremost people, and deserve the same respect as everyone else.’ (Andy, LGBT Development Worker, Hart Gables)
