TRANSGENDER Transgender is a general term used to describe individuals whose gender identity, ie. sense of themselves as male or female, differs from that usually associated with their birth sex. Transgender or ‘trans’ is the commonly accepted umbrella term for transsexual people, transvestites, cross-dressers and intersexed people. Transgender, Transsexual, Gender Dysphoria or even Gender Challenged are one and the same thing, females or males changing their gender and living life in the gender they know is right for them, via taking hormones and in some cases the surgeons scalpel. So why do we need a group in Hartlepool for people like this. WE HAVE A CHANCE TO HELP! As a group we have the chance to HELP! Give advise on seeing a GP, Gender Specialist, help with counselling and if needed help with make-up, hairstyles and dress sense but most of all we will be here with a LISTENING EAR and a SAFE and QUIET HAVEN. In setting up this group we hope to help young and mature people that are besieged by miss information and ridicule, we can also get people that already know what they want out of life, to join together to make changes in the LAW and hopefully the publics attitude and perception of what a TRANSGENDER person actually is. Our group is on a Tuesday from 5pm til 7pm and we would love to see you there.
